NDIS Support Categories
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides a range of supports to people with disability in Australia to help them achieve their goals and increase their independence. These supports are grouped into four categories: Core supports, which are essential to a participant’s daily life; Capacity building supports, which help participants to develop skills and independence; Capital supports, which enable participants to purchase assistive technology and other one-off items; and Coordination of supports, which includes Support Coordination to help participants understand and implement their NDIS plan and connect with service providers.
The specific supports that are included in each category will depend on the individual needs and goals of the participant, and will be outlined in their NDIS plan.
